Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites applications for a Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty & Doctoral Capstone Coordinator in Occupational Therapy position. The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC) is mainly responsible for ensuring program compliance with capstone requirements as stated in the 2018 ACOTE Standards D.1.0. The DCC collaborates with the OTD Program Director, Director of Clinical Education, faculty, and community partners/capstone mentors to ensure integration of capstone and didactic curriculum. The DCC will have teaching and advising duties, a scholarship agenda, and leadership responsibilities relative to the implementation of strategic initiatives of the OT Department. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with exceptional organizational, written, and oral communication skills to coordinate the doctoral capstone experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development, preparation, implementation, and completion of doctoral capstone experiences according to the department’s scholarship agenda and the OTD curriculum design
  • Develop and/or identify, implement, and monitor strategies to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the doctoral capstone in meeting program /departmental and accreditation requirements
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with community, clinical, academic, and relevant organizational entities to serve as capstone sites
  • Develop and/or identify and implement strategies to support the success of capstone faculty, site educators/mentors, and students
  • Contribute to the ongoing quality improvement of the OTD program through program evaluation
  • Meet teaching, advising, service, and scholarship expectations as described in the Faculty Handbook
  • Maintain and advance volunteer service relevant to Occupational Therapy
  • Maintain and advance in scholarship activities through peer-reviewed publications or presentations

Education Requirements:

  • The capstone coordinator must hold a post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).

Qualifications:

  • The capstone coordinator must be
    • licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Connecticut
    • hold an active NBCOT registration as an OTR
  • The capstone coordinator must have a minimum of 3 years of documented experience as an occupational therapist. This experience must include:
    • Clinical practice as an occupational therapist with experience working inter-professionally and supervising occupational therapy students
    • Administrative experience including, but not limited to, program planning and implementation, record-keeping, or marketing/promotion
    • Evidence of scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning) through peer-reviewed publication or presentations
    • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • Documented specialized experience in clinical practice.
    • Teaching appointment at the post-baccalaureate/graduate level in occupational therapy education. 
    • Mentorship of a capstone or research project in an occupational therapy education program
    • Volunteer leadership service relevant to the field of occupational therapy
