Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applications for an Academic Financial Analyst. This position reports to the Director of Academic Finance and is responsible for organizing and executing the functions associated with the planning and management of the financial resources across the Academic Division, including the development, implementation, and management of the systems for budgeting, accounting, reporting, and distributing this information.  

The Academic Financial Analyst is a vital member of the Academic Financial Operations team and provides financial guidance to the schools while working collaboratively with a variety of school and university stakeholders to achieve the overall goals and objectives. This person serves as a liaison between the schools and the corresponding administrative, personnel and financial offices and staff within the University.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and monitoring of the procedures, and functions of the schools to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures
  • Support the development of enhanced financial visibility and deliver routine financial analyses and provide financial reports to assist the schools
  • Coordinate the preparation of the schools operating budget and capital budget in accordance with the University annual budget process
  • Support procurement and payroll functions at select schools
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the schools to identify, model, implement, and monitor program resource needs
  • Ability to analyze information, problems, situations, and procedures and provide recommendations
  • Support financial analysis, financial modeling, forecasting and metric reporting
  • Ability to document and communicate with relevant interested parties process and procedures
  • Analyze financial data to identify potential risk and issues. Presents data and issues in a meaningful way. Proposes resolutions for financial management best practices.
  • Assist with developing and reporting key performance indicators
  • Maintain an active data set of key competitor benchmarks
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Academic Finance and Academic Budgets
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in using financial software and tools such as Excel, financial databases, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations based on quantitative analysis
  • Capacity to interpret complex financial information and distill it into actionable insights for various stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues, administrators, and decision-makers
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborate with various departments, and liaise with faculty and administrators to understand their financial needs and provide appropriate support
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds
