Overview: Quinnipiac University invites individuals interested in teaching the First-Year Seminar (FYS) course to submit applications electronically. Quinnipiac’s First Year Seminar incorporates much student-centered pedagogy, such as class discussion, peer-catalysts, student oral presentations, and historical role-playing simulations.
About the School/Program: The First-Year Seminar (FYS) course at Quinnipiac University is an interdisciplinary seminar that examines a complex problem, an enduring question, or a new idea based on the instructor’s disciplinary or professional expertise. All FYS sections should be intellectually challenging but appropriate to first-year students coming from all of the schools and college of QU. The course should draw upon disciplinary sources but should be more general than an introductory course in a specific discipline (e.g., Media Studies 101 or Sociology 101). And every course should include multiple (ideally two or three) disciplinary perspectives on the complex problem, enduring question, or new idea that the course explores.
About Quinnipiac: Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston.
