Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Assistant Provost, Executive Director of Institutional Research and Assessment. This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative and collaborative senior academic leader who transforms institutional data into strategic intelligence that advances academic excellence and organizational effectiveness.
Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Innovation & Effectiveness, the Assistant Provost leads the integration of institutional research and learning assessment in support of data-informed decision-making, evidence-based innovation, accreditation and continuous institutional improvement.
The Assistant Provost, Executive Director of Institutional Research and Assessment delivers data reports and champions the use of data, including emerging tools such as artificial intelligence and learning analytics, to improve student success, elevate institutional distinction, and enhance external performance indicators and rankings.

| Responsibilities: |
- Lead the combined Institutional Research and Assessment functions, ensuring excellence in institutional data, analytics, and evidence-based academic practices. Responsibilities include:
- All official institutional reporting to federal and state agencies, accreditors, and ranking organizations, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and consistency
- Providing university, school and departmental leadership with comprehensive, useful and informative institutional data that assists them in decision-making, planning, evaluation, operational and strategic initiatives and accreditation
- Collection, analysis and visualization of data for ongoing assessment of institutional performance against agreed upon benchmarks
- Comprehensive analyses of enrollment, retention, graduation, and student success to inform institutional strategy
- Survey research, benchmarking, and institutional effectiveness studies (e.g., NSSE and internal instruments)
- Assessment of student learning, including academic program review, general education, high-impact practices, and online learning
- Predictive modeling and analytics to support student success and institutional planning
- Support for school-and program-level assessment practices, enabling actionable, evidence-based curricular innovation
- Alignment between assessment activities and accreditation expectations
- Benchmark reports and peer comparisons
- Fulfillment of ad hoc data reports, e.g., for grants, accreditation, etc
- Oversee the development and effective use of institutional data infrastructure and analytics tools, including:
- Institutional dashboards and business intelligence tools that support decision-making at all levels
- Data definitions, governance, and standards to ensure consistency, integrity, and usability of institutional data
- Training and capacity-building initiatives that empower faculty and administrators to use data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of academic operations
- Drive adoption of AI and emerging technologies to create greater automation, efficiency and advanced insights in data reporting and analytics
- Maintain deep expertise in evolving reporting standards and national/global ranking methodologies and proactively assess institutional implications
- Build cross-functional partnerships with information services, admissions and financial aid, finance, academic budgets and resource planning, and units across academic affairs
- Supervise two staff in institutional research and learning assessment

| Education Requirements: |
- Doctoral degree in higher education, data science, social science, or related field
|
| Qualifications: |
- 7 to 10 years of experience in institutional research, institutional effectiveness, assessment, strategic planning, or a related field, preferably within higher education
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Data analysis and research methods
- Student learning assessment
- Data visualization and communication
- Ability to translate complex analytics into strategic decisions
- Strong collaboration across faculty, administration, and information services
- Vision for integrating data, innovation, and academic quality
- Exceptional ability to communicate data analysis and insights to diverse audiences, including translating technical findings into clear, compelling narratives that inform decision-making by faculty, administrators, and governing bodies
- Ability to translate complex analytics into strategic decisions
- Strong collaboration across faculty, administration, and information services
