Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing invites applicants who are dynamic clinicians and educators for a part-time faculty position for the Summer 2026 session. We are particularly interested in candidates with practice and teaching experiences in psychiatric mental-health nursing. The position supports the school’s competency-based curriculum aligned with the AACN 2021 Essentials, emphasizing learner-centered approaches, clinical judgment, and integration of evidence-based practice. Part-time faculty members contribute to the development of practice ready nurses through innovative teaching strategies and mentoring. Faculty support the school’s mission to develop exceptional, practice-ready nurses as leaders in science-based, holistic care through innovative and inclusive education.

Teaching opportunity in Nursing 400: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing with a class of 16 second degree nursing students. The course meets for three hours per week on Thursday afternoons at the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation in Hartford, CT.

Responsibilities:
  • Update course syllabus, as applicable. Post syllabus to Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Prepare weekly class sessions using lecture/discussion and other active learning strategies.
  • Meet all scheduled class sessions.
  • Respond to students’ learning needs holding at least one office hour per week as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Success and Retention Specialist in supporting student success.
  • Notify Program Director in advance of any unanticipated absences.
  • Complete mandatory training as identified by Human Resources.
Education Requirements:
  • Required: unencumbered RN license in Connecticut
  • Required: graduate degree in nursing (MSN, DNP, PhD in Nursing)
Qualifications:
  • Relevant teaching experience.
  • Experience in the use of Canvas or other learning management system.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Recent clinical practice experience in psychiatric-mental health nursing.
  • Familiarity with competency-based education.
