Overview:

Quinnipiac University's Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Director of Admissions, a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and continuously enhancing all operational aspects of the medical school admissions process. 

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Admissions, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership for admissions activities from application through matriculation. This role ensures that all policies, procedures, and practices align with the School of Medicine’s mission and values — preparing future physicians who are compassionate, collaborative, and dedicated to patient-centered care.

The Director of Admissions oversees the day-to-day management of the admissions lifecycle, ensuring an efficient and  compliant admissions process. The Director works closely with faculty leadership, admissions committee members, student ambassadors, and administrative staff to support applicant evaluations and an inclusive, welcoming experience for all candidates.

This role is instrumental in maintaining LCME compliance, strengthening data integrity, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both operational excellence and applicant engagement.

Responsibilities:

Admissions Operations & Oversight

•Direct and manage all operational aspects of the medical school admissions cycle, including AMCAS data processing application screening, applicant communication, interview coordination, and decision notifications

• Supervise admissions staff and ensure professional, service-oriented, and mission-driven applicant experience.

• Plan, supervise and manage day-to-day operations of admissions and recruitment activities.

• Manage budgets, systems, and technology (e.g., AMCAS, AMP or other CRM) to support efficient workflows and data-driven decision-making.

• Implement and monitor compliance with LCME and AAMC policies and data security standards.

• Maintain admissions databases, dashboards, and reports to support strategic planning and continuous quality improvement (CQI).

Strategic and Collaborative Leadership

• Collaborate closely with the Associate Dean for Admissions and Admissions Committee Chair to support the school’s review process and mission-aligned recruitment goals.

• Partner with the Office of Student Affairs, Office of Inclusive Excellence, and Marketing and Communications to ensure cohesive recruitment, yield, and transition activities.

• Coordinate the annual admissions calendar, interviewer and committee training, and event planning (e.g., applicant interviews, Discover Netter, outreach visits).

• Support data collection and reporting to internal stakeholders, AAMC, and external agencies (e.g., IPEDS, LCME).

Applicant Engagement & Pipeline Development

• Represent the medical school to prospective students, pre-health advisors, and community organizations to enhance the applicant pipeline.

• Lead communication strategies that reflect the School’s welcoming, inclusive, and patient-centered ethos.

• Develop and implement innovative strategies to build a mission-aligned applicant pool, participate in the evaluation of candidates for admission, and provide leadership to the committees during the admissions season.

• Monitor and update the public website admissions page regularly.

• Monitor trends in medical school admissions nationally and recommend improvements to maintain excellence and competitiveness.

Education Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, public health, organizational leadership, or a related field required
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions or enrollment management; experience in medical, dental, or health professions education preferred
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, high-volume admissions processes and leading teams
  • Strong understanding of mission-aligned admissions principles, data management, and accreditation requirements in admissions practices
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaboration across departments
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Commitment to the School’s values of compassion, professionalism, inclusion, and patient-centered education
  • Proficiency with admissions management software (e.g. AMCAS)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.
