The Pilotte Lab at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Research Assistant to join a collaborative and innovative research environment focused on parasites of both human and veterinary importance. This is a full-time, one-year position with the possibility of renewal.
This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented and curious scientist who is eager to deepen their laboratory expertise, contribute to impactful research, and work closely with faculty and students in a supportive, mentorship-driven environment.
This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible.

| Responsibilities: |
- Performing molecular diagnostic assays (PCR, real-time PCR).
- Performing basic molecular techniques such as cloning, bacterial transformation, etc.
- Performing DNA isolation techniques.
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records.
- Preparing next generation sequencing (NGS) libraries and assessing their quality.
- Running Galaxy-based bioinformatics tools on NGS data.
- Designing real-time PCR assays utilizing output from Galaxy-based bioinformatics analysis.
- Assisting/mentoring undergraduate (and potentially master’s level) students with related work.

| Education Requirements: |
- Master’s degree in molecular biology or related discipline (microbiology, cellular biology, biology, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience.

- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.
