Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing invites applicants who are dynamic educators and clinicians for a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

We are particularly interested in doctorally-prepared candidates with clinical practice and teaching experiences teaching across the lifespan with prelicensure BSN students. The position supports the School’s competency-based curriculum aligned with the AACN 2026 Essentials, emphasizing learner-centered approaches, clinical judgment, and integration of evidence-based practice. Faculty members in the School of Nursing contribute to the development of practice ready nurses through innovative teaching strategies and mentoring.

Successful candidates will have experience teaching concepts such as person-centered care, population health, interprofessional practice, scholarship and inquiry, and informatics and healthcare technology with patients across the lifespan. Successful candidates are also able to contribute to the university’s strategic initiatives including empowering academic success, cultivating a community of learners, leading through innovation, designing distinctive experiences, redefining health and human potential, and extending our partnership.

About the School/Program:

 

The Quinnipiac University (QU)  School of Nursing has been educating nurses for more than 50 years. Our mission is to develop exceptional, practice-ready nurses as leaders in science-based, holistic care through innovation and inclusive education. The School of Nursing was recently designated as a National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence. The School of Nursing’s strategic priorities are aligned with innovative programs, student success, thriving community, and sustainable resources.  The School of Nursing serves approximately 1200 graduate and undergraduate students. We offer CCNE accredited programs leading to BSN, MSN, and DNP degrees that prepare graduates for successful careers in hospitals, clinics, schools, communities, and many other settings. The QU School of Nursing partners with Hartford HealthCare (HHC) with a New Careers in Nursing (NCN) work-compatible program for mid-career professionals interested in a future nursing career. As one of 17 schools in the nation with holistically endorsed programs, we emphasize the social, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of care, as well as the physical, throughout our nursing curriculum.

 

School of Nursing graduates become leaders at each level of their careers and facilitate positive changes within healthcare. Faculty and staff work with colleagues in our Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and all schools across campus to create innovative interprofessional educational experiences that prepare students for today's health care challenges. The Center is located at our North Haven, CT campus and encompasses 325,000 square feet designed for collaborative learning including 48 pro-section stations, 16 standardized patient rooms, an exceptional health sciences library, 7 high-fidelity simulation rooms including 2 ORs and a PACU, health assessment and skills labs, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and classrooms outfitted with the latest technology. The NCN Program is offered at the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) at Hartford HealthCare.

Faculty are provided with one day a week as a practice and/or scholarship day. On-ground in person presence is expected on the campus 3 days per week.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching intensive, clinical track nursing faculty position, with primary responsibility teaching in the New Careers in Nursing (NCN) work compatible program for mid-career professionals transitioning into nursing at the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) at Hartford HealthCare in Hartford, CT; faculty will also have teaching responsibilities on the North Haven campus
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality programs that demonstrate academic excellence and success
  • Participate in competency-based curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement aligned with the AACN 2026 Essentials
  • Advise and mentor students to support academic success and professional growth
  • Contribute to School and University service, including committee participation and professional engagement within the community
  • Engage in scholarly activities and maintain currency in nursing practice and education
  • Participate in faculty development
  • Engage in the School of Nursing’s strategic plan
  • Actively participate in the School of Nursing community
Education Requirements:
  • Required: unencumbered RN license in Connecticut
  • Required: doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing or related field
Qualifications:
  • Recent clinical practice experience
  • Experience with competency-based education and curriculum development
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Service to profession or community
  • Commitment to contribute to the excellence of the academic community
