Overview: Quinnipiac University invites applications for an Associate Athletic Director, Equipment services to ensure the highest quality of service and efficient operations for the equipment needs of the athletic department. This includes the purchase and payment of all apparel, uniforms and equipment for the department, executing the athletic department’s contract with the equipment and apparel vendors and working with Marketing & Communications on maintaining and promoting the Quinnipiac brand. It also includes oversight of laundry for all teams and maintenance of ice hockey equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to the highest standards of academic integrity and work in compliance with all University, NCAA, MAAC Conference, ECAC Conference and Big East Conference rules and regulations.
  • Create and oversee any necessary equipment policies and strategic planning efforts.
  • Manage the oversight, working relationship and contract adherence with the department's shoe and apparel provider and other vendors and assist head coaches with other team specific equipment contracts as requested.
  • Purchase, inventory, distribute, collect, maintain and repair of athletic equipment for 21 varsity athletic programs across 3 athletic facilities.
  • Oversee equipment room budget, maintain and monitor supplies within the budget and manage inventories successfully and accurately.
  • Advise coaches regarding adherence to team specific equipment budgets.
  • Work with Integrated Marketing on all uniform and apparel purchases to ensure that the department is within the branding guidelines and that the department serves as a top ambassador for the Quinnipiac brand.
  • Oversee the laundry operation for all 21 division 1 programs across 3 facilities. Including collection, laundering, storing and distribution of game uniforms.
  • Serve as the main equipment contact for the athletic department, including overseeing the day-to-day ice hockey equipment needs.
  • Work closely with coaches and staff to ensure effective home and visiting locker room management including, laundry and equipment management, practice and game set up and breakdown of benches, and ensures all uniforms and team equipment are in place for all competitions and practices.
  • Coordinate with other institutions with regards to team travel both home and away to coordinate logistics and laundry needs.
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of equipment during home and away games.
  • Hire, schedule and supervise 30-40 student laundry workers, a part-time employee and a graduate assistant.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in athletic equipment services, including supervisory responsibilities
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Proven experience managing equipment operations for hockey programs, including knowledge of hockey-specific equipment maintenance, repair, and safety standards.
  • Experience in an intercollegiate or professional athletics environment is strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of athletic equipment and apparel, including inventory management, ordering, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in skate sharpening, stick repair, and customization of hockey equipment.
  • Familiarity with equipment safety standards and guidelines from governing bodies like the NCAA, NOCSAE, and USA Hockey.
  • Ability to operate equipment management software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Budget management experience, including planning, monitoring, and cost control for equipment operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with coaches, athletes, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required for team events and competitions.
