Overview:

Quinnipiac University invites applicants for the position of Nursing Laboratory Assistant to prepare the simulation and skills labs based on the needs and schedule of the curriculum for the School of Nursing. Job responsibilities include lab set up and breakdown, organization and arrangement of equipment, maintenance and minor repair of equipment and timely communication with members of the nursing lab team.

Work hours are primarily afternoon and evening but may also fluctuate between days and weekends based on the needs of the school of nursing. Training hours may differ from work hours.

Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, set-up and breakdown of technical and clinical equipment within the simulation and skills laboratory settings
  • Utilize all appropriate university software, including simulation software
  • Organization, arrangement and restocking of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Inventory management, equipment inspection, cleaning, and minor repairing of equipment
  • Participate in special projects as required
  • Participate in technical training as necessary
  • Provide technical assistance and support to faculty in the use of simulation and skills lab equipment
  • Be proficient in medical terminology and medical equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Work hours are primarily afternoon and evening but may also fluctuate between days and weekends based on the needs of the school of nursing. Training hours may differ from work hours.

Physical Requirement:
Employee must be capable of team lifting, shifting, pushing, pulling simulation equipment.

Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a health care environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to function independently, be motivated and self-directed, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-moving academic environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Basic use of computer programs such as MS Office
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician training preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
Special Instructions to Applicants:
  • Please note this is a Grade 5 position in the Clerical & Technical Union
  • The hourly rate is $24.83
  • Work week is 35 hours per week
  • This position requires the successful completion of a background check
