Job Title: ABL Circulation Services Student Assistant

Responsibilities:

Provide service at the Circulation/Reserve Desk and in the Technical Services area of the library. 

Duties will include:

  • Assisting library patrons within the scope of knowledge.
  • answering the telephone.
  • checking books and course materials in and out of the library system.
  • labeling and processing of newly acquired materials.
  • shelving materials.
  • stack maintenance and inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training will be provided.

Students should be able to move book carts, approximately 25 lbs., and be able to bend and stretch as appropriate to re-shelve materials.

Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, a courteous and friendly demeanor, and the ability to work effectively with all patrons, students, faculty, and staff.

  • Must be dependable, can follow directions, and work independently. 

  • Computer skills are a must. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, typing, and filing skills are also needed.

Hours of Position:
  • Available hours are dependent on gaps in desk coverage.  The primary hours available for this semester are between 8 am to 12 pm on Mondays, 8 pm to 10 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
  • Secondary available hours are on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8 am to 10 am.
  • There is a small chance that limited hours might be available during other times of the week.
