Overview:

Reporting to the Executive Director for Technology Infrastructure, the Associate Director of AV Systems Infrastructure directly manages all the technology associated with the AV infrastructure for the entire University. The Associate Director also manages the staff of the AV Systems Infrastructure department. The main areas of responsibilities include operational support for all spaces, designing and engineering AV solutions for new capital investments and construction, refreshing old AV infrastructure, and supporting events around campus that include Audiovisual technologies.

The information services department is a central IT department that manages all aspects of technology for the entire University. Within Information services, there is a Technology Infrastructure division consisting of a Servers and Systems team, an AV infrastructure team, the Network Operations team, and Telephony and Cabling Infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Operational support and maintenance of all existing AV systems in all university spaces. This includes break-fix as incidents are reported and in-person support as needed. We leverage our Client Services department, including student employees for front-line support and need to coordinate and collaborate on any support issues that need to be escalated.
  • Design, engineer, and manage the AV portions for all Capital construction projects including new buildings and major renovations to existing spaces (these include teaching spaces, meeting spaces, athletics venues, and other specialty facilities). We work with several AV Integrators to provide, install, and support these projects, but are heavily involved in the design and engineering of spaces with AV.
  • Upgrade and refresh AV systems in existing spaces throughout campus. This is a constant and yearly process of renewing and refreshing AV gear and/or overall AV design in all the existing spaces across campus. This can range from simply upgrading displays or projectors, to re-engineering larger spaces to upgrade and change the overall functionality for the space or incorporate new standards and design elements.
  • Supporting events around campus ranging from lecture capture in small classrooms to larger setups and support for large-scale events University events. We again leverage our support team and student workers to assist in this role and need to coordinate and collaborate on these efforts.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Technology, preferably AV specific
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience may substitute for some of the above education requirements
Qualifications:
  • Requires analytical skills, engineering ability, and overall expert knowledge of a wide range of AV infrastructure technologies
  • Comfortable with modern network-based AV protocols and signal flows
  • Heavily dependent on Zoom Room technologies within all our spaces (meeting, teaching, and specialty). Familiarity and experience with the Zoom Room model for AV design is helpful
  • Highly collaborative and able to leverage skills from different groups within IT Infrastructure and across divisions within Information Technology Service
  • Technical abilities outside of Audiovisual
    • Expert level in general computer skills
    • Experience with procurement process and overall financial management for AV related products and services
    • Some experience and knowledge in systems and networking technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
