The Frank H. Netter MD, School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University seeks MD or DO applicants for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Sciences, specializing in internal medicine or primary care. 

Successful candidates will be expected to teach medical students broadly across the pre-clinical curriculum and contribute to a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They will collaborate with a team of medical educators from other basic science and clinical science disciplines to develop instructional materials and deliver effective teaching using methods that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, on-ground position.

About the School:

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University graduated its inaugural class of medical students in May 2017. The school was founded with the aim of educating diverse, patient-centered physicians who are partners and leaders in an interprofessional primary-care workforce. Our primary-care mission has expanded to include institutes for rehabilitation medicine and global public health. Our innovative integrated curriculum focuses on student–centered, active and engaged instructional excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct medical students broadly across the pre-clinical curriculum in a variety of instructional methods including lecture, problem-based learning, team-based learning, case-based learning, and asynchronous and on-line teaching
  • Develop, coordinate, integrate, deliver, and assess curricular materials independently    and in collaboration with other faculty members
  • Advise and mentor medical students regarding academic, curricular, and career development
  • Engage students in the scholarship of medicine, evidence-based medicine, and mentor student capstone projects
  • Candidates may also have the opportunity to be engaged in instruction in the clinical curriculum
  • Additional specific responsibilities include scholarly activity, service on committees, and other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree. A minimum of 3 years of Graduate Medical Education training is preferred.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching, scholarship, and/or clinical practice in internal medicine or primary care specialties is highly desirable. Capacity/proficiency to teach in hematology is a plus.
  • Successful candidates must present evidence of an established record of effective teaching
  • A commitment to work productively with a team of medical educators from other basic and clinical science disciplines
  • Evidence for potential of productive scholarly and creative activity is also desired
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
