Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing invites applicants who are dynamic psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) clinicians and educators for a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as Program Director for the PMHNP program. We are particularly interested in doctorally-prepared candidates with practice, teaching, and leadership experiences in a PMHNP graduate program. The position supports the School’s competency-based curriculum aligned with the AACN 2021 Essentials, emphasizing learner-centered approaches, clinical judgment, and integration of evidence-based practice. Faculty members in the School of Nursing contribute to the development of practice ready nurses and advanced practice nurses through innovative teaching strategies and mentoring.

As a Program Director, the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the university’s strategic initiatives including empowering academic success, cultivating a community of learners, leading through innovation, designing distinctive experiences, redefining health and human potential, and extending our partnership.

About the School:

The Quinnipiac University School of Nursing has been educating nurses for more than 50 years. Our mission is to develop exceptional, practice-ready nurses as leaders in science-based, holistic care through innovation and inclusive education. The School of Nursing’s strategic priorities are aligned with innovative programs, student success, thriving community, and sustainable resources. The School of Nursing serves approximately 1100 graduate and undergraduate students. We offer CCNE accredited programs leading to BSN, MSN, and DNP degrees that prepare graduates for successful careers in hospitals, clinics, schools, communities, and many other settings. School of Nursing graduates become leaders at each level of their careers and facilitate positive changes within healthcare. Faculty and staff work with colleagues in our Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and all schools across campus to create innovative interprofessional educational experiences that prepare students for today's health care challenges. The Center is located at our North Haven, CT campus and encompasses 325,000 square feet designed for collaborative learning including 48 pro-section stations, 16 standardized patient rooms, an exceptional health sciences library, 7 high-fidelity simulation rooms including 2 ORs and a PACU, health assessment and skills labs, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and classrooms outfitted with the latest technology. As one of 17 schools in the nation with holistically endorsed programs, we emphasize the social, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of care, as well as the physical, throughout our nursing curriculum.

The Program Director is afforded one day a week as a practice day. Although the program is online (with in person immersions), regular presence is expected on the campus in North Haven.

Responsibilities:

• Teaching intensive, clinical track nursing faculty position, with primary responsibility for educating graduate nursing students in the online PMHNP MSN program
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high quality programs that demonstrate academic excellence and success
• Ensure program compliance with accreditation standards
• Oversee daily management of the PMHNP MSN program
• Develop, maintain, and evaluate quality clinical experiences for students
• Participate in student recruitment, admissions review, enrollment management, and retention initiatives to support program growth and sustainability
• Design and implement learning experiences that reflect competency-based education principles
• Participate in competency-based curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement aligned with the AACN 2021 Essentials
• Advise and mentor students to support academic success and professional growth
• Contribute to School and University service, including committee participation and professional engagement within the community
• Engage in scholarly activities and maintain currency in nursing practice and education
• Participate in faculty development
• Engage in the School of Nursing’s strategic plan
• Actively participate in the School of Nursing community

  • Education Requirements:

• Required doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing or related field

Qualifications:

• Required unencumbered APRN license in Connecticut
• Required national certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
• Recent clinical practice experience as a PMHNP
• Experience with competency-based education and curriculum development
• Evidence of effective teaching
• Preferred experience leading or coordinating an advanced practice nursing education program, including curriculum oversight, program evaluation, accreditation activities, and faculty collaboration
• Service to profession or community
• Commitment to contribute to the excellence of the academic community
