Quinnipiac University, located in the picturesque Mount Carmel - Hamden, CT area, invites applications for a Full-Time Licensed Mechanic Plumber position, on our York Hill campus, within our facilities department.

As a Licensed Mechanic at Quinnipiac University, you will play a vital role in maintaining the upkeep of our vibrant campus. As a Licensed Mechanic, you are a promoter of maintaining an environment of EXCELLENCE so our students, faculty, and staff can learn and live successfully.

The hours for this position are mid-August through mid-June Tuesday-Saturday 9:00am to 5:30pm and mid-June through mid-August Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.

An environment of EXCELLENCE comes with the following Responsibilities:

  • Installation and repair of plumbing fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of tools and procedures used in the trade.
  • Install and connect distribution systems such as water, sanitary sewer, and storm drains and systems.
  • Ensure plumbing installations comply with existing State and Local codes.
  • Additionally, must be able to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment and control systems, pumps, generators, life safety systems (fire, lighting, sprinklers) motorized equipment (gasoline and electric), outdoor lighting and kitchen equipment.
  • May drive trucks and perform related skilled work as required.
  • Licensed Mechanics are on call for emergency situations. However, licensed mechanics will remove snow during regularly scheduled shifts but will not be utilized for snow related overtime.
  • Must be able to perform highly skilled plumbing tasks and other related work.
  • Will work under the direction of a designated supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A State of Connecticut plumbing, journeyman, or contractor's license P2 and P1 classification is required.
  • Progressive skill development and work in the trade are necessary.
  • Must have a valid CT driver's license.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds.
