Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing invites applications for part-time faculty to provide clinical supervision for undergraduate students for the Spring 2024 semester. Opportunities exist in pediatric health specialties.

As a part-time faculty member, this position requires one day per week clinical commitment for a 15-week semester. Both weekend and weekday shifts are available. Teaching opportunities for more than one day per week are also available within the undergraduate nursing program.

Experienced and new nurse educators are encouraged to apply. QU Nursing is highly collaborative and supportive and offers mentorship and training to support our nurse colleagues who are new to clinical education.

About the School:

The School of Nursing serves a total of 1100 graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty and staff work with colleagues in our Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and all schools across campus to create innovative interprofessional educational experiences that prepare students for today's health care challenges. The Center is located at our North Haven, CT campus and encompasses 325,000 square feet designed for collaborative learning including 48 pro-section stations, 16 standardized patient rooms, an exceptional health sciences library, 7 high-fidelity simulation rooms including 2 ORs and a PACU, health assessment and skills labs, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and classrooms outfitted with the latest technology. As one of 15 schools in the nation with holistically endorsed programs, we emphasize the social, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of care, as well as the physical, throughout our nursing curriculum.

We offer traditional and accelerated second degree programs at the baccalaureate level. At the graduate level, our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) prepares baccalaureate graduates to become nurse practitioners specializing in adult-gerontology or families; an online MSN prepares RNs for careers in mid-level management and includes quality improvement, fiscal management, human resources, and informatics. Our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares post-master’s RNs online in advanced leadership or specialized population-based care.

Responsibilities:
  • Educating and supervising undergraduate students in the clinical setting
  • Working with course coordinators to supervise pre-licensure students in achieving course outcomes
  • Evaluating student clinical performance and written work
Education Requirements:
  • Required: master’s degree in nursing
  • Required: unencumbered RN or APRN license in Connecticut
  • Current or recent clinical practice
Qualifications:
  • Currently practicing in a clinical setting or educational environment
  • Experience with teaching students in clinical nursing desired
  • Ability to demonstrative effective teaching in the clinical setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
