Overview:

Quinnipiac University seeks highly qualified applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching for part-time faculty openings in the newly created Department of Health Sciences within the School of Health Sciences. The position(s) are primarily for on-ground course offerings, with a limited number of hybrid and/or online opportunities.

The Department of Health Science offers programs that are designed to provide students with broad knowledge and skills within the ever-evolving field of health and health care. With the end in mind, the department strives to prepare students for either entrance into the workforce or for graduate health professions or medical education.

Truly interdisciplinary, the faculty within the department have expertise across multiple aspects of human health, fitness, dietetics, management, medical law and ethics, research methods, emergency preparedness, and injury prevention & rehabilitation. Faculty members collaborate with other health care educators across the School of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, and School of Engineering to deliver an interprofessional educational experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the undergraduate health science curriculum.
  • Meet classes as regularly scheduled.
  • Prepare and distribute to students a clear and concise plan for learning within the first week of classes and for filing it with the faculty member’s department chair and school/college office.
  • Hold office hours, defined as time set aside for interaction with students outside of class to promote students’ academic achievement and provide academic guidance.

  • Contribute to the overall depth and breadth of undergraduate education within the Department of Health Sciences.
  • Participate and engage as an active member in the department strategic initiatives and plans.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the department chair and program director
Education Requirements
  • A minimum of a master's degree in a healthcare field or closely related field is required.
  • A PhD or EdD is preferred.
  • Recent clinical experience as a health care provider or within healthcare is preferred.
  • Areas of expertise can include any of the following: Career Planning in the Health Professions, Medical Terminology, Evidence Based Medicine, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Sports Medicine, Human Movement, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Healthcare Management, Bioethics, Quality and Safety, Emergency Management, Public Health, Health Equity, Social Determinants of Health, Healthcare Informatics, Quality and Safety.  Click this link to view the courses offered within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience at the university level is preferred.
  • Online teaching experience at the university level is preferred if applying for online.
  • Experience with Blackboard or similar Learning Management System (LMS) preferred.
