Overview:

The Department of Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University (QU) is excited to invite applicants for full-time open rank core faculty position with potential for qualified candidates to develop and serve in a leadership position within the fully CAPTE accredited DPT program. The position will begin in January 2025 with rank and line (tenure, tenure-track, or clinical) commensurate with experience.

Teaching responsibilities include instruction of entry-level DPT students in various areas of interest, with preference given to orthopedic experience. This full-time faculty position will have a designated scholarly agenda and service responsibilities relative to the strategic plan of the PT Department and aligned with individual interests.

About the School:

The School of Health Sciences is home to approximately 100 full-time faculty and professional staff and enrolls over 2120 students across over 20 graduate and undergraduate academic offerings.  The school is organized into 8 departments offering undergraduate majors in biomedical sciences, health sciences, radiologic sciences, medical microbiology & Immunology and diagnostic medical sonography and graduate majors in physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, biomedical sciences, pathologists’ assistant, and cardiovascular perfusion. Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor teaching strategies and course design to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of instruction in meeting departmental and DPT Program accreditation requirements with specific focus in areas of expertise or various assigned courses of the curriculum.
  • Cultivate a scholarly agenda related to clinical outcomes, population health, or scholarship of teaching and learning related to area of expertise
  • Contribute to the ongoing quality improvement of the DPT Program, Department of Physical Therapy, and School of Health Sciences through balanced workload of teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Engage and seek professional development aimed at driving the mission and vision of the DPT Program and PT Department
Education Requirements:
  • Applicants must hold a minimum of a clinical doctorate DPT
Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Connecticut, an active member of APTA, and have a minimum of 5 years of documented experience as a physical therapist
  • Evidence of strong teaching skills and use of instructional technology in area of contemporary expertise
  • Evidence of ability to establish a scholarly agenda (e.g., scholarship of application, discovery, integration, or teaching) through peer-reviewed publication, presentations, or ongoing scholarly endeavors
  • Commitment to community engagement and professional advocacy through teaching, service, and scholarship
  • Contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-professional doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.) awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). ABD considered with record of teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Experience in DPT Program administration, leadership, or development
  • Clinical practice in orthopedic rehabilitation or OCS, SCS is highly desired
  • Volunteer service to a professional organization which has application to physical therapy
  • Mentorship of a capstone/research project(s) in a physical therapy program
