Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Nursing invites applicants who are dynamic clinicians and educators for a full-time 12-month clinical track faculty position. The successful candidate will be a doctorally-prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who will lead the SON’s new PMHNP program. The candidate will have experience in curriculum development, as well as expertise in teaching nurse practitioner students in online and hybrid environments. The candidate may also support mental health nursing courses within the SON’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

This is a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty positions within the School of Nursing.

About the School:

The School of Nursing serves a total of 1100 graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty and staff work with colleagues in our Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and all schools across campus to create innovative interprofessional educational experiences that prepare students for today's health care challenges. The Center is located at our North Haven, CT campus and encompasses 325,000 square feet designed for collaborative learning including 48 pro-section stations, 16 standardized patient rooms, an exceptional health sciences library, 7 high-fidelity simulation rooms including 2 ORs and a PACU, health assessment and skills labs, advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and classrooms outfitted with the latest technology. As one of 16 schools in the nation with holistically endorsed programs, we emphasize the social, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of care, as well as the physical, throughout our nursing curriculum.

We offer traditional and accelerated second degree programs at the baccalaureate level. At the graduate level, our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) prepares baccalaureate graduates to become nurse practitioners specializing in adult-gerontology or families; an online MSN prepares RNs for careers in mid-level management and includes quality improvement, fiscal management, human resources, and informatics. Our post-master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) online programs are designed for nurses seeking advanced leadership skills or specialized population-based care.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching intensive, clinical track nursing faculty position, responsible for educating primarily graduate students in a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program
  • Serve as director of the school’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program
  • Support curriculum development and evaluation
  • Flexibility to teach on campus, on line and in hybrid delivery formats
  • Serve as an academic faculty advisor and mentor
  • Engage in service to the school, university, and the profession
  • Potential for engagement in scholarly agenda
  • Participate in faculty development
  • Engage in the School of Nursing’s strategic plan
  • Actively participate in the School of Nursing community

 

Education Requirements:

  • Required: unencumbered RN license in Connecticut
  • Required: doctoral degree in nursing or related field
  • Required: certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
