Quinnipiac University invites applications for a Writer and Editor to join its Office of Marketing and Communications. In this role, you will help write and edit high-quality, high-volume content across all digital and print channels, including articles for marketing collateral, Quinnipiac Magazine, the Quinnipiac website and Quinnipiac Today, our weekly digital newsletter.

The Office of Marketing and Communications is responsible for university-wide brand and marketing communications strategy, planning, execution and reporting. The Writer and Editor will report to the Director of Editorial Services.

  • Write news stories, features and profiles for Quinnipiac Magazine, the Quinnipiac website and Quinnipiac Today
  • Cover lectures, panel discussions, live events and other assignments, often on deadline, for website, newsletter and magazine use
  • Interview students, faculty, administration and staff for print and digital content
  • Write and edit copy and content across all channels, including digital and print advertising, social media, video scripts and marketing collateral such as brochures, postcards, annual reports and viewbooks
  • Support the launch and continued execution of the new university brand campaign
  • Produce web content including brand stories, profiles and news articles that hero the Quinnipiac brand, occasionally on deadline
  • Work with Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop multimedia narratives
  • Collaborate with university faculty, administration and staff to generate story ideas
Education Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, media studies or other relevant discipline is required

  • 3-5 years of experience in writing and editing
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen understanding of the special requirements needed to write compelling and effective content for a higher education audience
  • Ability to leverage the power of words in bold storytelling to recognize the importance and value of a Quinnipiac education
  • Creativity and ability to tailor the style of writing to reflect the university’s voice and tone
  • Relentless eye for detail, with excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills to work effectively with contributors, designers and university faculty, staff and administration
  • Strong organizational skills to produce content within tight deadlines
  • Experience with content management systems required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
