Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites applications for a 12 month tenure track faculty position in Occupational Therapy at the rank of Associate Professor who will serve as the Chair of the Occupational Therapy program.

The Occupational Therapy Department has three occupational therapy programs: an entry-level master’s degree in occupational therapy, an entry-level post-baccalaureate doctoral degree, and a post-professional doctoral degree. The Department Chair is responsible for strategic planning, faculty workload, overseeing curriculum development, budgeting, student advocacy, and ensuring program compliance in accordance with 2018 ACOTE Standards.  The Department Chair will collaborate with Program Directors, faculty, and the Quinnipiac Community in order to ensure continued program growth, quality, and student success. The Department Chair will have teaching responsibilities at a reduced course load to reflect significant administrative responsibilities.

The Department of Occupational Therapy is part of the School of Health Sciences. Key Chair Responsibilities:


  • Lead department in successful implementation of the constituent programs
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to assist faculty in their professional scholarly development
  • Undertake strategic planning to innovate current and future programming
  • Advocate for department resources to ensure faculty and student success
  • Support fund raising to advance departmental opportunities

 Management  of the Department

  • Plan and manage department budget
  • Promote occupational therapy programs
  • Evaluate program outcomes and develop ongoing program improvement
  • Work directly with Program Directors to ensure coordination of course schedules, advising, and student needs

Faculty Affairs

  • Plan and manage faculty workload
  • Coordinate faculty review and promotion processes
Education Requirements:
  • Earned post-professional doctoral degree


  • An active license as an occupational therapist or eligibility for licensure in the State of Connecticut
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical practice and
    • 7 years full time teaching at rank of associate or full
    • administrative experience including but not limited to supervision of faculty, program development, budgeting, marketing
  • Required for tenure-track: Evidence of scholarly achievement (e.g., publication, presentation, etc.)
  • Required for Administrative position: Prior program director, chair or administrative experience
  • Preferred: Experience with oversite of multiple programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
